REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS :WEST, CENTRAL & EAST 

Award U17 and open age Regional National Champions in the Optimist Dinghy, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, 420, 29er, Laser and 2.4m classes 

Provide training and competitive experiences to any sailor over the age of 7 in the above classes 

Provide professional development and mentoring to Instructors and Coaches toward certification 

Build a legacy in the host region to deliver race programming and events by developing individuals in race management, judging, and sport event organization 

WOMEN’S KEELBOAT CHAMPIONSHIPS 

The Women’s Keelboat Championship is hosted annually, rotating through the western, central and eastern regions of Canada. The event is open to competitors across the country, a number of whom are able to take part thanks to the provision of charter boats from the local area.

Sailing creates a meaningful appreciation for the health of our watery environment 

• Sail Canada promotes best practices and shares resources and programs to be used at clubs and schools across Canada to keep our waterways clean, safe and healthy 

• In partnership with the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s Wild About Sports program, information and resources are provided to coaches and instructors to use in teaching their sailors about environmental best practices 

• All registered Sail Canada instructors have access to the Wild About Sports manual through their Sail Canada profile 

• Sail Canada also supports and promotes Ocean Ambassadors Canada in their mission to turn the tide of marine pollution by getting participants into the ocean, educating them about the threat of plastics and empowering them to make real change
